Good trip overall

We took the Larne to Cairnryan ferry last month. It was pretty chill. Got a standard ticket, and everything worked out fine. The kids liked the play area, which was a nice bonus. Felt like a relaxed way to travel.

Consistent service as always

I've used P&O many times for the Rotterdam to Hull route. This trip was just as good as previous ones. Booking was easy, and the cabin was clean. Always my go-to for crossing to the UK.

Decent experience, minor issues

I booked a Rotterdam to Hull overnight sailing with a cabin. The booking process online was clear, and I opted for Priority Boarding, which saved some time. The cabin was clean and comfortable enough for the journey. Onboard, I used the WLAN, but it was a bit spotty in some areas, which was a minor inconvenience when trying to stream something. Customer service at check-in was efficient. Disembarkation was quick. Overall, it was a solid trip for the price, especially since I got a decent deal on the cabin. Just wish the internet connection was more reliable throughout the ship.

Smooth sailing, some room for improvement

My recent trip on the Calais to Dover route was mostly positive. Booking a Flexi-Ticket online was simple, and it gave me peace of mind about potential changes. Check-in was relatively quick at the port. The ferry departed on schedule, and the journey itself was calm. I tried a meal in the onboard restaurant, and it was decent, if a little pricey for what it was. The Club Lounge access was a nice perk, offering a quieter space. The main thing that could be better was the cleanliness of some of the general seating areas; they looked a bit tired. Otherwise, a reliable way to travel.

Fantastic short break!

Just got back from a short break to England with P&O Ferries, and it was brilliant! The onboard restaurant had good food, and the duty-free shopping was fun. I will definitely be booking another trip soon!

Do P&O Ferries tickets ever go on sale? Trying to book for summer but prices are a bit high.

R Rachel Walsh 1 month ago
Definitely. They do early bird discounts a lot, and I've seen summer sales pop up. Also keep an eye out for Black Friday or January sales, those can be good too.

Hey, thinking of taking the Calais to Dover ferry with my dog. Any issues with pet travel on P&O?

N Nick 2 months ago
Nah, it's pretty straightforward. You just gotta make sure to add them to your booking when you buy your ticket, they have a specific way to do it. And they stay in your car for the most part.

Yeah, I took my cat last year. They have rules about how pets travel, usually in your vehicle or designated areas. Check their site for the exact details, but it was fine for us.

Thinking of taking the ferry instead of Eurotunnel for my next UK trip. Any thoughts on P&O vs Eurotunnel?

D David Whitfield 1 month ago
Totally different vibe. Eurotunnel is super fast, you just drive on and off. P&O is more of a mini-cruise, you can walk around, get food, hit duty-free. If you're in a hurry, Eurotunnel. If you want a more relaxed journey, ferry all the way.

P&O is great if you want to stretch your legs and enjoy the sea. Plus, duty-free can be a good bonus. Eurotunnel is pure speed and convenience if you just want to get across quickly.

Is it worth upgrading to the Club Lounge on the Rotterdam to Hull route? What do you even get?

J Jared S. 2 months ago
I did it once. You get comfier seats, usually some free snacks and drinks (tea, coffee, soft drinks), and it's generally quieter. If you want to relax and avoid the main crowds, it's pretty nice.

Depends on the price for you. It's more chill, less crowded, and you get some basic refreshments included. For an overnight, it can be a good way to unwind.

How much earlier do you actually need to show up at the port for a P&O ferry? Says 90 mins but that feels like a lot.

D Daisy 2 months ago
Honestly, I'd stick to the 90 minutes, especially if you're driving. It can get busy, and you don't want to miss your slot. Better safe than sorry.

I usually aim for about an hour before, maybe 75 mins. If it's peak season or a really popular crossing, definitely give yourself the full time.
